The artist that inspired me is Mike Perry. He was born in Missouri and are up near Kansas City. He started drawing at the age of four. He earned a degree in Graphic Design and three years later moved to New York city and started his Brooklyn-based design studio in 2006. His illustrations make your eyes dance across the page. It seems like he wants you to get lost in the patterns. He uses a varying amount of bright colors that catch the eye. Mike Perry seeks to create planetariums of inner space and imagination. He is intrigued by spiraling galaxies of mind and thought. He also wants to inspire people and remind them of their "poetic independence". Mike Perry's work inspired me in my work because of his use of line and shape. His exquisite use of line and shape draws my eye into his work. I got lost in the endless lines and shapes, which is what drew me into his work. If I compare and contrast both of our works his seems to be more whimsical, where as mine seems to be more structured. But both works have a emphasized use of line and shape. His work however, seems more colorful, where as mine is just in black and white. My work shows how the endless lines and shapes can just mesmerize you. The work has a structure that is blocky, but also flowing at the same time. I think it shows how a work can still be complex without a lot of color.
